I’m really not an expert but I came to like some places in Geneva to eat lunch and/or dinner.
- The “Bain de Paquis” is on a peninsula in the geneva lake; it has a buvette (means you need to fetch your stuff yourself), a dish of the day and salads. In the evenings it’s fondue. You can swim there (if you dare the cold) or simply enjoy the view on the old town of Geneva. It’s a real “Geneva”-Place with a mix of business people, students, families, unemployed.
- The World Meteorological Organization in Geneva has a Restaurant on the 9th floor; from 12h30 on it’s open to the public and the only thing you need to do to get in is to deposit your ID with the guards. A small price to pay for a terrific view on Geneva and the lake!
- The Café du Soleil has a very good fondue (and other plates), reservations are mandatory.
- A well hidden but very good restaurant with a friendly service is “La Palmeraie“; they have excellent Tajine and Couscous, north african dishes but prepared to meet our taste buds ;-) – the prices are fair and the one thing which I remarked about the Tajine they do is that it’s not filled to the brim with rice (what you can do to save on the meat).
- If you want a Kebab, go to Parfums de Beyrouth in 18, Rue de Berne. Be aware that that’s on the border of the red light discrict but don’t let that get in between you and the best Kebab you can find in Geneva. You can eat there or take away and sit on the lakeside.
